An Anniversary Trip to EleutheraBahamas Wedding Photographer

This year my husband and I celebrated 10 years of marriage and 15 years together. We figured that was quite the accomplishment and decided to go on an epic adventure somewhere warm and tropical.  After extensive searches throughout the entire caribbean on Airbnb, we stumbled upon a little oceanfront apartment on a long, yet skinny island called Eleuthera, in the Bahamas. I was really hesitant to go, although the white sand beaches looked amazing online.  The Bahamas never really appealed to us, it just seemed so touristy.  But just hop on a tiny and terrifying little plane will get you to the island of Eleuthera, and worlds away from any tourist trap you might find in the Caribbean.  Long white and pink sand beaches stretch endlessly with not a soul on them.  It was a true getaway.  We felt like we had the whole island to ourselves.

If you’re in Central Eleuthera and have a car, you must visit the Leon Levy Plant Preserve , a conservation and preservation reserve that was located a short walk from our place.  I would’ve paid to go more than once if we had more time on the island.  A rental car is a must, as public transportation is non existent.  Also, you would never be able to explore all the hidden beaches if you didn’t have one.

We’re already planning our next trip back, it won’t be our last.  Contact me about wedding opportunities in the Bahamas!  It’s now on my wish list of destination wedding locations.

A Lake SessionVirginia Fine Art Boudoir

I feel very lucky to live right on the water.  Those Pisces traits really ring true for me, in that it is and always has been a place of reflection, rejuvenation and of being in my element.  We are our happiest here.  The day before, I shot a session (also along the shores of the lake) and had a bucket of left over florals to use up provided by my friend Linda Ha.  My friend Megan was more than willing to come over and oblige this crazy idea I had, an Ophelia like shoot.  Dark and moody yet romantic and feminine.

The lake did not cooperate that day.  It was very windy, and the flowers blew away the moment we laid them in the water.  It was cold, and Megan was scantily clad.  She was also very brave, because I can affirm that there are indeed leeches in our lake.  Nonetheless, I love these photos, and hope to continue this as a project with her, a different kind of fine art boudoir shoot.

I’m thinking of doing a boudoir marathon of sorts coming up this November and would love to hear from you!  I’m not able to show too much of my work online, so please contact me to view a gallery in private.  Also, you can see some of my boudoir reviews here.

Happy Holidays!

It’s been an amazing year over here at Megan Noonan Photography and I want to thank all of my wonderful clients and vendors that I’ve worked with this past year. This year I’ve shot in Rhode Island, New York, Raleigh, Virginia Beach, Maine, and all over the VA, DC, MD region.  I’m looking forward to next year’s travel and experiences that await.  First stop will be San Francisco from the 11th-16th of March.  Let me know if you are around that area and interested in setting something up, I’d love to hear from you!

I leave you with a shot from my iPhone of the beautiful peonies that graced my Thanksgiving table this year, in a test of light and styling from this afternoon.

Florida Road Trip

I recently decided to take off with my three boys on a road trip down to Florida for Spring Break.  Crazy I must be to travel 14 hours alone in a car with three kids under 10, but in all honesty, it wasn’t too bad (namely due to a grueling schedule of driving through the night.  We made a stop in Savannah, Georgia on the way down.  Please, if you are ever in the area, you must stop by Narobias Grits and Gravy.  To die for.

We stayed at the Canoe Outpost on the Little Manatee River and made day trips all around the area.  These are just a few shots of my boys on our trip.

Note:  My youngest seems to have learned to favor the camera…a lot.

Fredericksburg Virginia Child Photographer – Adrian

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything personal on here.  This past week I had my almost two year old nephew Adrian, while my sister moved into a new house in Raleigh.  I have three boys of my own, but with my youngest at almost 6, the trials of raising a toddler are in the past for my husband and I.   Taking care of a toddler again was such a joy, and a reminder of how beautiful it is to raise children and how fast it all goes by.  These are just a few images I made of our time together.
